Rachel Pennington is an alumnus of James Madison University, graduating with a Bachelor of Music and a concentration in Vocal Music Education.
Her love of music began when she was young, being involved in choirs, musical activities, and ensembles. Her passion really developed in high school, where she was involved in show choir, advanced choir, intermediate choir, piano, and musicals including Hairspray and Cinderella. These varying musical experiences helped ground her understanding, love, and appreciation for music, while also realizing the lasting effect it can have on the lives of young students.
Continuing her music career, she decided to further her education in music at JMU. There, she was involved in ensembles including the JMU Chorale, Treble Chamber Choir, University Women’s Chorus, and was also the undergraduate manager and conductor of the Treble Chamber Choir. Additionally, she was involved in numerous practicum and student teaching experiences that exposed her to teaching music to all ages.
Rachel is eager to share her love and passion for music with her students, support and inspire them, and give them meaningful musical experiences just as she had.
